Descriptions:
As prices continue to rise, the Rotary Club of Sendai City donated a year’s supply of rice to Children’s Shokudo, which provides meals to children. The donation amounted to about 5 tons of Hitomebor produced in the prefecture, which is equivalent to the amount of rice served in children’s canteens in Sendai City in one year. On the 8th, the Sendai Rotary Club handed over the catalog to the Sendai City Welfare Board. Children’s cafeterias are cafeterias run by local residents and local governments that provide free or low-cost meals to children. Miyagino Shokudo Children’s Society representative Etsuko Takahashi: “In these times of high prices and shortages of rice, we are truly grateful to have received so much rice. We will use it effectively.” Sendai Rotary Club President Kenzo Azumi: “Children are the leaders of our future, I hope you will eat rice and become more energetic.” The rice will be distributed to all 79 children’s cafeterias in Sendai City. In addition to the rice being packed into bento boxes and distributed to children, it will also be provided to families in need of support.
