Descriptions:

Tohoku Electric Power Co. announced that the average household’s electricity bill in December 2024 will increase by 596 yen compared to the previous month. According to Tohoku Electric Power, the electricity bill used in November 2024 and issued in December will be 8,782 yen for a typical household with average consumption, an increase of 596 yen from the previous month. This was in response to the end of government subsidies in November, making the price the third highest since 1996, when the fuel cost adjustment system was introduced. In addition, Onagawa No. 2 Nuclear Power Plant restarted on October 29, but Tohoku Electric Power said, “When we applied for a price increase last year, we set tariffs with the restart in mind,” and there are no plans to cut rates again.
