Is there a gay resort with a dark room in Thailand? Yes, and it’s on Koh Samui. Alpha Gay Resort & Spa is the only gay-only resort in the south of Thailand, located near Chaweng Beach, 3 km from Samui Airport. I took the ferry over from Koh Phangan to explore what this place actually offers beyond a regular gay hotel: a clothing-optional pool area, a weekly Friday cruising pool party, a full dark room with sling, St. Andrew’s cross, glory holes, and cabins, plus a steam room with private dark corners and a massage room. You can stay as a hotel guest in one of their 25 bungalows, or visit on a day pass for 500 baht with pool and facility access. I visited during low season with around 10 guests at the pool, so I could film the entire dark room empty. Here’s what it looks like inside.
