Kesennuma Mukayo High School students set off from Kesennuma Port on Oct. 2 to learn tuna fishing and other skills aboard the Miyagi Prefecture training ship Miyagi Maru. This training is scheduled to be held in Hawaii for the first time in four and a half years. Thirty-one students, including students from Kesennuma Mukohiro High School, will undergo navigation training on the Miyagi Maru. At the departure ceremony held at Kesennuma Port on the morning of the 2nd, trainee representative Kazuyoshi Murakami expressed his determination. Trainee representative Kazuyoshi Murakami: “I would like to cherish the limited time of 45 days and actively learn and grow with my friends.” During the hands-on training, the students went longline tuna fishing in the Pacific Ocean south of Hawaii, I’ll try it.
