Descriptions:
In Murata City, Miyagi Prefecture, the fall imoni party season has arrived and the taro harvest has begun. Farmer Hideyuki Sato harvests a variety called Tsuchidaru. ‘Tsuchidaru’ is said to be distinguished by its sticky and soft texture, and thanks to moderate rainfall this year, it is said to be growing well. Producer Hideyuki Sato says, “It’s a sweet potato that looks like a long fig. The taste is delicate, slimy and delicious. If you boil it and eat it, it’s very tasty.” It is expected that about 2 tons of taro will be harvested. The harvest is expected to continue until the end of October, and the harvested taro will be sold at the Murata roadside station in the city.
