Ahead of Respect for the Aged Day on September 16, a long-established glasses store in Aoba Ward, Sendai City donated vouchers for 100 reading glasses to Sendai City. The donation was made by Megane no Aizawa, whose main store is located in Aoba Ward, and president Kumiko Aizawa handed over the list to the ward mayor. Aizawa Glasses, founded in 1895, donates reading glasses to Sendai City every year on Respect for the Aged Day, and this year marks the 62nd time they have donated reading glasses to Sendai City. Kumiko Aizawa, president of Glasses of Aizawa, said, “This will help them enjoy their daily lives and the culture of social participation in a lively and energetic way.” The vouchers for reading glasses will be delivered to senior citizens in the city through local welfare committees and others.
