Descriptions:
The prefecture and delivery companies have signed an agreement to prevent repeat deliveries. It is the first such agreement in the country, and plans to widely encourage people to install delivery boxes. The agreement was signed by the prefecture, a trucking association and three private delivery companies. The agreement calls on residents of the prefecture to do their best to prevent repeat deliveries, in light of the tightening of overtime rules for truck drivers that began this year. For example, the prefecture plans to disseminate information about installing delivery boxes and using delivery services through the prefecture’s social media and radio broadcasts. Prefectural Governor Miyagi Murai: “The fact that rivals have come together to make an agreement is very significant.” The national government had set a goal of increasing the repeat delivery rate to 6% by the end of this fiscal year, but as of April this year, it was 10%. That’s 4%.
