Voting day for the election of the mayor of the city of Zao due to the expiration of the term of office is September 29. Voting ends at 18:00 and votes will be counted on the same day. The two candidates vying for the Zao mayoral election on notice are Shun Aida (40), an independent and new administrative judge, and Hideto Murakami (72), the incumbent who is running for his sixth election. Voting began at 7 a.m. at 15 polling stations in the city. In the city of Zao, challenges include providing child care as the population continues to decline, as well as promoting disaster prevention and mitigation efforts. The number of voters in Zao City is 9,483, and the voting percentage as of 11 am is 16.12%. Voting will close at 6:00 pm and votes will be counted on the same day.
