The first half of my Eliza playthrough. As I comment at the beginning of the video, I try to compliment the playthrough with some background knowledge about machine learning.
If you’re interested in a fictional story that reflects the limitations and abuse of machine-learning as a social technology, this may interest you. My commentary and exasperation may provide some amusement over the base game too.
Eliza by Zachtronics is a 2019 visual novel about Evelyn, an engineer who has spent the last three years of her life burnt out after working at a tech company. She signs up to be a “proxy” for Eliza, pretty much a human mask to make a simple chatbot more appealing as a product. She reconnects with people from her past and through the game we help her come to a conclusion about her involvement with so-called “AI”.
