Around 6:30 p.m. on March 20, a fire broke out in an apartment building in Kokubuncho, Aoba Ward, Sendai City. No one was injured, but the surrounding area was briefly disrupted. The fire occurred in a building housing restaurants and other businesses in Kokubuncho 2-chomo, Aoba Ward. Around 6:40 p.m. on the 30th, a store employee called 911 and said, “Black smoke is visible from the store on the second floor of the building.” The fire department sent 18 tanker trucks and other equipment to extinguish the fire, and the fire was extinguished shortly before 8 p.m., after about an hour and 20 minutes. According to the fire service, no one was injured as a result of the fire. The building where the smoke came from is a nine-story apartment building that houses restaurants and other businesses. The scene of the incident was near Inari-koji from Hirose-dori, access to the area was temporarily restricted, and noise arose.
