Descriptions:
Kodaira Rural Park in Yamamoto City, Miyagi Prefecture. The Kodanari illumination event, which has become a winter tradition, began on Saturday, December 7. All illumination is made by hand by local residents. This was planned a year after the Great East Japan Earthquake to express our gratitude for the support. There is also a strawberry carriage that Yamamoto City is proud of, as well as a fire truck used by the local fire department. Let’s all share ideas and shed some light. This is the 13th time this year. It is said that there are about 200,000 LED light bulbs in use. On this day, many people came, walked happily and took pictures. People who came from Aomori and Fukushima prefectures said, “It’s a lot of fun with all the different lights shining and it’s beautiful,” “It’s a lot of fun with all the different colors and Yamamoto’s famous strawberry lights,” and “(Come with everyone!) I think it was unforgettable.” Keiki Iwami, Chairman of the Kodanariyo Executive Committee: “We decorated it with the intention of making it feel warm even in cold places, so we hope that everyone will be happy and that it will be warm the moment the lights are turned on. I often hear people say, “Wow! This is amazing!’ and it makes me really happy.” Kodanari will be illuminated on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until December 29 from 18:00. .
