At around 8pm on January 22, they were returning home from a club activity when they discovered a woman in her 80s lying on the sidewalk, unable to move. Yasuhiro Sato: “He could barely stand. He looked scared and it was dark and raining so I thought he was scared.” Mitsumi Akama: “It was raining, so I thought he was scared.” “I’m wet. I thought it was dangerous. My friend (Mr. Sato) was there and we talked while we were doing it, so it was easy.” The two men realized they could not turn a blind eye to the woman’s condition and called the police. Mr. Sato, a well-communicated member of the badminton club, spoke kindly to her, and Mr. Akama, a member of the basketball club, confident in his physical strength, put the woman on his back and carried her to a nearby store. The woman was then handed over to police and returned safely to her family. Mr. Toru Akaizawa from Miyagi Prefectural Agricultural High School: “I was very surprised when I heard this, but I think she acted reliably.” In fact, the woman who collapsed was consulted by her family, who said: “She has disappeared from her home.” The police searched for about an hour and a half. Yasuhiro Sato: “I don’t have many opportunities like this, so I think this is an important experience and I will keep it in my heart.” Mitsumi Akama: “If everyone helps each other in life, I think society will be a better place/I want to use this experience to help more people.”
