Descriptions:
In Kakuda City, Miyagi Prefecture, inspection tests for the new rice called Hitomebore, which ranks first in the prefecture, have begun. This year, the rice was not affected by the intense heat and the rice was of good quality. About 120 tons of the new Hitomebore rice, harvested by 36 farmers, were delivered to the JA Miyagi Sennan warehouse in Kakuda City. On the 9th, a Shinto ritual was held before the inspection, with about 30 JA officials and growers present to pray for the safety of future farming. Inspectors took samples of the rice from the bags and carefully examined their color, shape, and moisture content. Last year, due to the intense heat, there was a lot of immature rice and the proportion of first-grade rice was only about 60% of the total, but this year, the rice is of the same high quality as usual. Producer Ryuichi Sanpei said, “This year, unlike last year, the harvest is good and delicious. Everyone is having a hard time without rice right now, so I wanted to deliver it as soon as possible, so I harvested them a little earlier than usual.”Inspection The new rice will be sold in prefectural supermarkets from September 19.
