Descriptions:
Tohoku Electric Power Co. announced that it had conducted training as a prerequisite for restarting the Onagawa Nuclear Power Plant by the 29th. Some of the training was suspended due to some people feeling unwell, but it was resumed after measures to prevent heat stroke were taken. On the 8th of this month, a “large-scale damage control drill” was conducted at the Onagawa Nuclear Power Plant in preparation for natural disasters, but three participants suffered from heat stroke, and the drill was suspended. After that, a drill with additional measures to prevent heat stroke was conducted on the 15th of this month. In addition, “sequential training” was conducted from the 20th to the 22nd of this month to confirm procedures in the event of a major accident. During this training, hose connection work was postponed, so additional training was conducted on the 29th to confirm work procedures. The two exercises are a prerequisite for restarting the Onagawa nuclear power plant, and Tohoku Electric Power Co. plans to restart it around November this year.
