Descriptions:

This is the theme of the fall flavor “Pumpkin”. On September 19, kindergarten teachers in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, decided to sell the pumpkins they grew themselves. The pumpkin sale was held at the Shingenosato Road Station in Ishinomaki City and was attended by 16 children from the nearby Kahoku Kindergarten on the 19th. At Kahoku Kindergarten, we have been growing pumpkins for the past two years to help children learn about the importance of nutrition. The pumpkins sold on the 19th were seedlings planted by kindergarteners in May of this year and nurtured with care. This year, due to the intense heat, we harvested fewer pumpkins than last year, but the pumpkins were large and sweet. There were 36 pumpkins prepared, large ones cost 200 yen and small ones cost 100 yen. Thanks in part to the involvement of kindergarteners, items sold like hotcakes and were sold out in just 20 minutes. Customer: “I want to eat carefully so I don’t waste it.” Kindergarten: “I was nervous, but it was fun.” “I’m glad they liked it.” “I think everyone would be happy if they ate this.” At Kahoku Kindergarten we will be preparing food starting next year. I also want to continue growing pumpkins.
