Descriptions:
The Yu-Pack shipments began on September 17th with the aim of informing as many people as possible about the “secret bean,” edamame beans produced specifically in Kakuda City, Miyagi Prefecture. Hiden beans, a specialty of Kakuda City, are large, have a strong aroma and rich flavor. Last year’s harvest was poor due to extreme heat and lack of rain, but this year’s harvest is expected to be on par with normal years. This is the first time the Hiden Bean Yu-Pack has been organized, and about 30 people attended the departure ceremony on the 17th, where children from kindergartens in the city performed the “Zunda Exercise.” Farmer Ryuichi Sanpei says, “Edamame is best when it’s at its best, so I definitely want people to try it.” Due to freshness issues, the Hiden Bean Yu-Pack cannot be shipped to some areas, but it will be accepted at post offices nationwide until September 25th.
