Descriptions:
We started a campaign called “Close Road” in which university students in Sendai collect clothes they no longer use. We encourage cooperation in delivering winter clothing to foreign technical trainees from Southeast Asia who are not used to the cold. This is Sendai Shirayuri Women’s University in the Izumi district of Sendai City. Announcer Nishinoiri Natsuki: “In the corner of the cafeteria where the students eat lunch, the students are packing their winter clothes. There is a lot of warm winter clothing, such as down jackets and knitwear, which are collected by the unused company Close Drive. clothes and delivers them to those in need. It was first planned by students from the Faculty of Psychology and Social Welfare. 4th year student at Sendai Women’s University Shirayuri: “I don’t have much money yet since I’m a technical trainee. I only have summer clothes, so I decided to donate clothes.” The opportunity arose through a meeting with a foreign technical trainee. This is an exchange event. Technical trainees learn skills and techniques on the job, but they say Southeast Asians often have trouble finding winter clothing due to limited wages in the cold Miyagi region. Students who heard this story. We called for contributions through school announcements and flyers for several days, and on December 12, many students, faculty, and staff showed up to donate. Student who donated winter clothing: “I feel like I want to help when someone my age or someone close to me helps, and since I’m learning about poverty in class, I hope I can help in some small way.” 4th year Sendai Women’s University student Shirayuri: “I think foreign residents and technical trainees don’t have many opportunities to actually interact with Japanese people, so donating clothes like this makes me feel warm in their hearts.” “I wish I could have that.” Sendai Shirayuri Women’s University will continue its activities until the 13th and will deliver collected winter clothing through the Sendai Vietnam Association.
