Is Bangkok’s OLDEST shopping mall food court still the BEST? 🇹🇭 | MBK Food Legends

Before IconSiam, Terminal 21, and Siam Paragon food courts, there was MBK Centre: home to what many consider Bangkok’s original modern shopping mall food court, and one of the oldest food courts in Bangkok still operating today.

MBK first opened in the mid-1980s, and this food court helped define what we now expect from Bangkok mall food courts: affordable Thai food, massive variety, fast service, and flavours that locals genuinely eat. But in 2025, with so many luxury and Instagram-famous food courts across Bangkok, one question remains…

👉 Is MBK Food Court still the best food court in Bangkok?

In this video, I explore legendary Thai dishes including:

• 🍜 Tom Yum Noodles – unbelievably bold, sour, spicy, and packed with flavour
• 🍲 Guay Jub Nam Kon – rich, peppery, comforting Thai soup done properly

From classic street food favourites to old-school Bangkok comfort dishes, MBK’s food court is full of history, nostalgia, and serious flavour. But can it still compete with newer shopping mall food courts at IconSiam, Terminal 21, Siam Paragon, and other Bangkok malls?

If you’re searching for:

• Best food court in Bangkok
• MBK food court guide
• Cheap Thai food in Bangkok
• Bangkok mall food courts compared
• Authentic Thai food in shopping malls

…this one’s for you.

Watch till the end to see whether MBK is still a Bangkok food legend — or if the newer malls have finally taken the crown.

My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this YouTube channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!

If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!
