Descriptions:

We explore Sukhothai by bicycle with a practical two-day guide to Thailand’s first capital. Day one focuses on the central zone, starting at Wat Mahathat, one of the park’s most recognizable sites, known for its lotus-bud stupa, mandapas, carved reliefs, and stylized Buddhas. At sunset, we head to Wat Sa Si, home to a classic Walking Buddha, whose sense of movement—often described as prana—is a hallmark of Sukhothai art.

On day two, we cycle west, north, and east through the ancient city, stopping at quieter temples like Wat Mangkon and Wat Chedi Ngam, before climbing to the hilltop Buddha at Wat Saphan Hin. The monumental seated Buddha at Wat Si Chum is a highlight of the visit. After lunch—traditional Sukhothai noodles—we continue to Wat Chang Lom, then return to the center to see Wat Traphang Ngoen and the Khmer-era Wat Si Sawai, ending the day with sunset back at Wat Mahathat.
