• Trump’s declaration that the U.S.-Iran ceasefire was “over” thrusts him and his administration back into a familiar corner: mired in an unpopular war that he cannot seem to end, with midterm elections less than four months away. In a mid-June Fox News poll, 58% of voters said the U.S. made the wrong decision in war against Iran in February, and 41% said the country made the right decision. In the poll, 87% said it was important to avoid a prolonged military conflict with Iran, including 59% who deemed it “extremely important” to do so.
• Trump kindles a significant thaw in relations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, announcing the U.S. would buy Ukrainian drones and, more importantly, gave a green light for Ukraine to co-produce Patriot interceptors, a move that could significantly improve its air defenses in the years ahead.
