Welcome to the beautiful island of Koh Phangan that lies to the north of the popular tourist island of Koh Samui. In this video, I take a ferry from Samui and tour around the island via rented scooter in order to show you what there is to see here. Unlike Samui, which I visited back in 2009, I never came here back then so everything I see will be for the first time.
The islands name comes from the word “ngan”, meaning “sandbar” in southern Thai as there are many sandbars offshore plus the island has been a longtime favourite of past Thai kings with King Rama V visiting here no fewer than 14 times during his reign! The island is probably best known for hosting full moon parties – large raves that take place on one of its beaches.
